police acadamy, police are allowed to have them and seeing as how this state allows police officers to be 19 that would explain it. Which department? I'll probably see you around the area when I get out next july.

Once again, I'm liking floridakai's mindset. Funny how you call something meant to kill a toy...

You have to be 21 to buy a handgun from an FFL - Federal Firearms License - holder. You can buy one at age 18 from a private person.

yep, this is due to the fact there is no weapon registry in fl. thats why in private sales you must verify all info of the buyer along with the serial number of the weapon.

Glocks are cool. Really indestructable weapons. I myself just got a new toy: http://www.usfbs.com/Gallery/ViewImage.aspx?User=elm3r&Image=37578
If you need to get some .45ACP, I can hook you up with a few online dealers...

What brands, besides MagTech and Fiocchi are you allowed to use? If you can use Wolf, you're in luck. It's not reloadable ammo, but it's cheap. And for the academy, that's what you need: Cheap.
Now, Wal-Mart sells 100-rnd "target packs" of Winchester for like $18/each. Going that route would set you back about $360 for 2,000rnds, though (before tax). In comparison, Wolf is $84.71 per 500rnds (or $339), but that's before shipping.
So, depends on how you wanna work it. The Winchester/Wal-Mart special might just be the way to go...

I NEVER shoot wolf out of anything except my Aks and sks. steel cased pistol rounds never feed well and they gum up the chamber.
Oh, most pigs err cops use cheap stuff like UMC and Winchester. IT's the best for the money, and can be had easy at any Wal-Mart.

Understandable about the gumming-up of the chamber. But he's wanting it for academy practice, not as a carry-load. So, gumming doesn't matter too much. He should get familiar with field-stripping the gun anyways. =)
As for feeding: I've never had a problem feeding Wolf .45ACP through any gun I've used it in.

I haven't used wolf .45 in anything HOWEVER, I have used the wolf 9mm in my beretta and I can't even get through an entire magazine without a few feeding/extracting issues.

While the Glock 21 .45 ACP is definately a fine choice of weaponry, I think going with something more dependable like say a bat with nails sticking out of it would be an possible alternative. Seriously, if I saw a cop with a naily bat coming at me I would shit myself.

Well I resorted to Winchester from Wal-mart, the cheapest I could find without ordering online which would have taken too long.

you can get it from any glock armor, im sure you can order it from glock also, and most of the weapons stores in tampa i have been to carry parts like that. If there is a gun show coming to the fairgrounds soon, thats the place i would go to because there is always a glock armor there.
