What he didn't tell you my friends is that this is just the body of a grand prix, yes sir, underneath that glossy veneer beats the heart of a 93 Geo Metro...a whapping 55HP! Your car is slow Danny, you're gonna have to face it one day.

and pcm with u bend delete. I don't think your car will beat a 330Ci stock. I know a GXP will but I believe most testing puts the GTPs at 14.9 to 15.0. Now my L67 equiped monte will have no problem smoking a 330, infact there isn't much it loses to (see intercooled ported M90 and supporting mods) I've also got a 05 sitting in my garage. You are also faced with one other problem compared to the L67, you have a returnless fuel system making it hard to produce big hp without converting over to the old fuel rail and set up.

my regal kept up with a 330i and thats 240 HP. my GTP is 260 HP. and i have dual exhaust. there is no u-bend (i dont think). my GTP is L67 equipped as well was my regal.

Actually, your car does not have a L67, L67 is the RPO code for 1996 to 2003 3800 Series II supercharged engines. You have a L32 Series III 3800. Changes are signifcant over the L67 unit (including a new generation supercharger)but, the new setup has a great deal of torque managment (trying to save the light duty front wheel drive trans) and is now drive by wire, is a returnless fuel system and uses a new style computer to run the vehicle. You also need to remember that the new car is a few hundred lbs heavier. As I said, these cars are in the high high 14s to low low 15s range (car and driver only squeaked out a 15.0 in a GTP comp G). You also do not have dual exhaust, you have manifolds going to a crossover pipe, to a y pipe to a single pipe and single cat, then to a y pipe in the rear with two mufflers. NOT Dual exhaust. I'd definatly like to see a stock regal or GTP keep up with a 330Ci even with the Comp G package and 3.29 gear ratio compaired to the 2.89 that I run in my car.

o ok.
well im not saying it would beat a 330i. i was joking with my friend but it does keep up most definitely.
the 04 doesnt have a 4t65e-hd transmission?

the 04 uses a "HD" 4T65E but not what I guess you could call then new 4T65E HD used in the GXP. Then new unit uses hardened input shafts, different sprags etc. Much beefier considering it's taking on an extra 43 hp and 50+ ft lbs of tq.

these arent arguments. hes full of knowledge that i need. i know this because he is one of the few that knows about the 3800 series. im trying to learn. so keep commenting. either way, the car is luxorious. it doesnt need to be fast for me to appreciate it anymore.

and usfbs doesn't have it's drama??? j/k. I don't think it's as bad as the regal boys make it out to be. One thing we did with our gp was switch to the 16x6.5 rims for added traction and sidewall flex.

omg, beautiful car! i am looking into getting a grand prix or a monte carlo, depending on how generous my insurance company is going to be with my compensation. i want a black one though.

thanks. id go with the grand prix though. the monte carlo has 20 less horsepower than its counterpart. the monte is a little bit sportier looking though.

I'd probably head the way of a Grand Prix GXP, skip the GTP as premium is required since it is forced induction. the GXP which is a great deal faster, at least 1 full second in the 1/4 mile and will pull bus lenghts on the the top end, requires only 87 most guys are running 89 and realizing 14.00 to 13.80 1/4 mile times, show me a car that can be had for 27K or less that can turn times like that and still hold 4 people (reasonable) well.

well my GTP is used so i got it helluva lot cheaper than a brand new car. there probably arent a whole lot of used GXPs out there right now. i like my GTP for the fact that it does only have a V6. there are probably a lot more production cars with V8s that are faster than the GXP than there are production cars with V6s that are faster than the GTP. basically i think the GTP is higher up in its class than the GXP is in its. but whatever, it mostly came down to the cost and i wasnt about to spend 30K plus.
