Description
We were working down in Venezuela around an island that had shipwrecks from as early as the 1600's. This is a picture of ballast stone. Stones were used as wieghts to balance ships back in the day. When a wooden hulled ship wrecked on a reef, the first objects to fall out of the bottom of the boat were the ballast stones. It is one of the first things you look for when searching for a old shipwreck. -That was your history lesson for the day :)
