same way one looks Indian, or Muslim, or spanish, or whatever, each particular religion, or culture has their own personal traits that give each person away as to what they are, like for me, i could walk down the street and spot a Jew a block away, you have to know what to look for.

I don't think there really are benefits of being Jewish over lets say Catholic, Muslim, Baptist, etc. But generally Jews tend to be hard working people who are usually successfull in life. Since we have had a rough history, we tend to push much harder than most people do to suceed in our careers. We also tend to be nice people, and for some reason most parents love us Jewish guys.
P.S. I will delete any stereotypes that are listed, stop stereotyping people, not all Jews are rich and not all Jews are good at money, and not all Jews are cheap.

please name one other religion that has been enslaved, and has had numerous attempts in its history to wipe it out, and has overcome all of that? i guarantee you cannot find another religion like that, which is why i can say "Since we have had a rough history, we tend to push harder than most people do to suceed in our careers." cause no other religion has had to overcome what we have had to.
unless eli's mom converted before he was born, or he has had a conversion himself to judaism, he is not considered jewish, by jewish law, since we track it through the mom.

^^^yes, that does happen to alot of people, as Jews we do feel like we are in a us vs them situation, especially since we currently have a numerous countries who want us gone from the middle east, and one president who has come out and been quoted as saying his goal is to rid the world of Israel and the jews. so for us to suceed it is a way for us to shove it in everybody's face who ever doubted us, put us down, and tried to kill us.
the reason i am using the word "us" is because as a jew it is a part of my history even if it didn't happen directly to me. i grew up learning all about the history of the jews, "my people" my entire life, so yes, i will use the word "us" and i have every right to. it shouldn't matter, but in this particular instance we were talking strictly about religion, and not race, although there are many people, myself included, who consider ourselves Jewish Americans, instead of American Jews, which in a way could be turned into a race in itself. African Americans and Jewish Americans have a lot in common and tend to get along rather well, just due to the fact that we have similar histories, and yes, African Americans have the right to fight for everything they want, but how many actually do?

secular judaism FTW! like brad said judaism is just as much about the culture and tradition as it is the religion. As far as me being techinically jewish, according to orthodox jews who do no recognize converts, I am not jewish, otherwise I am jewish. She did however convert before I was born.
You really need to take things with a grain of salt Andy. The only thing I am ever touchy about is the Holocaust, as I've known several survivors and also have family friends who lost loved ones. Everytime you raise a such a fuss over something somebody says you are just feeding into it.

Zwick hated me, mostly because i made it a point to correct her every time she was wrong... which was a lot. Socially she knows her topics, but when she tries to teach from the military prospective and she tells me that the SS did not have a military unit (which my thesis paper was based on, btw) the proverbial gloves come off, haha.
her holocaust class is probably pretty good, seeing as how she teaches as if that was the only thing that occured between 1933 and 1945 (that and she is jewish and has the same 'i have something to prove' attitude jewtang does.
But then again, I am biased because I think Dr. Bodo was the shit and it is hard to live up to his level of teaching.
