I think this is the most disgusting thing I've seen, why do you put loads of makeup on children? starting them as little consumers early is it?

it's as if they're on stage in a play or in a movie:
you have to exaggerate the makeup so it will show up with
all the lights on them and the people that are far away can see it.

Thats right, another person asked the same question. The judges are very far away and the lights are so bright that you cant see the crowd just like on stage in a play or a dance. It has gotten a little excessive I think but I am not the boss and thats what the boss wants so I do it. They like it, for them its like halloween. They think its special that they get to dress up and stuff because they work so hard to be in the competitons.

yesh. i was on dance team for several years and in
high school drama and i hated all that makeup.
it got gooey after a while. haha.

There is a big part of the score sheet that goes to what we call "facials" meaning smiling and making faces at the judges. The red lipstick makes it easy to see that they are smiling (from far away) and the eye makeup is really just for show. And im sorry if it offends you but its part of the sport everyone wears the same makeup.

yep...being in dance and theatre ive learned about all that stage makeup..its sad to see it on little girls like that BUT its all part of playing the part and having the judges see them accuratly...i know when i was on dance eam the judges would sit wayyy up in the box office so how were they supposed to see our expressions unles we had the bold makeup to accentuate it?.gif)
